Why do limousine service rates differ so much over the year? Sometimes I have booked limousine service in Vancouver for reasonable prices but at other times I have been subject to minimum booking requirements and surge pricing. Why is this so?
The limousine industry in Vancouver is a seasonal industry with peak times and slow times. The peak months are from April to September and then December. During these months the demand for limousine services is much higher than of the other months. Also note that within the year there are also peak days as well which are Fridays, Saturday and some Sundays.
Not many people are renting limos on weekdays and during the slow months. The limousine business model is primarily based off the busy days and months. This means that the operators must take into consideration all the factors and build a service according to the demands of the business. Everyone wants to have their events on the weekends and during the months when the weather is good, especially weddings.
This consumer behavior has caused the demand for the services to surge during those peak months and hence the reason for the minimum booking requirements or surge pricing.
There are many people who require just a transfer and there are some who require the service for multiple hours. As a business owner you tend to want the higher prices booking because that means more profit to offset the losses during the slower months, which in turn helps balance the books for the end of the year.
My suggestion would be that if you want to save in the limousine services, plan well in advance and negotiate with the vendors and also if you can, try to plan your event in the slower months because not only will you save on limousine services but you can also save on many other services as well.
This is the truth and I hope this helps you in your booing process.
